About

My name is Mark Gustavson and I have been performing on the clarinet for over 40 years. The better part of those years were spent as a freelancer in New York City. In addition, I was the clarinet instructor and Distinguished Faculty Artist at Adelphi University. I am classically trained and studied clarinet with Stanley Davis, Mel Warner, Howard Klug, and William Blount. I have experience in symphony orchestras, opera orchestras, chamber ensembles and as a soloist. I have performed all types of music including standard repertoire, contemporary classical music, jazz, dance and theater music.

Prior to teaching at Adelphi University I was part of the faculty of the Brooklyn College Preparatory Center for the Performing Arts. Teaching at BCPC gave me extensive experience with young people ages 7 through 18.
